Summer 2002 resarch project

About the project

In early 2002, the neighborhood association asked the School’s urban studies program to assist in supporting and developing information for a neighborhood visioning process.  Neighborhood officers had recently been informed that the City of Omaha Planning Department would be developing a neighborhood redevelopment plan as a precursor to award of Community Development Block Grant funds for housing and revitalization actions.

During the summer of 2002, a team of faculty and staff worked to assist the association in several areas.  These activities included asset mapping, a neighborhood survey, a comprehensive assessment of housing conditions, and focus group sessions with neighborhood residents and business owners.
